Rutgers vs Penn State Prediction
Penn State has come out of nowhere this year and looks like an elite team in the Big Ten. After a devastating loss to Ohio State in early December, they have now won 5 straight. The only other loss they have was a two-point loss to Mississippi in the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament. This week they moved up one spot in my computer power rankings becoming the 41st ranked team in the country. While Penn State has had a great start to the season so has Rutgers. After losing two games in a row in early December they have now won 5 in a row. This week Rutgers moved up 4 spots in the power rankings to the number 70 team in the country. When it comes to covering the spread, both of these teams have done a decent job at covering. Rutgers has covered in 66.7% of there games while Penn State has covered in 61.5% of games. When it comes down to the stats Penn State has done a better job at shooting the three. While 31.7% is nothing to go crazy about, it is definitely more impressive than Rutgers 28.9%. Also when it comes to free-throw shooting Penn State has been shooting at 69.1% while Rutgers has only shot 64.4%. Neither of these stats pop off the page, but when it comes to finding an edge it is important. This is why I am taking the Penn State in this one.
