National Championship Card
LSU vs Clemson 1/13/20
LSU comes into this game as the heavy favorite to win. For the defending National Champions who have won 29 straight games to be a 6.5 point underdog seems insane. While I like LSU, and have a future ticket on them, giving a team like Clemson 6.5 points is just a crazy move. This line should be close to a PK. There are two big reasons why LSU is such a heavy favorite. The first is the fact that the game is being played in New Orleans.
While there will definitely be more LSU fans at this game, I think they are giving them to much credit. Whenever you have neutral-site games between two teams of this caliber there will always be fans from both sides there. I really don’t think LSU playing in there home state will change the result very much. The other big thing that moved this line so much, was LSU’s results against Georgia and Oklahoma.

Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson lead the Tigers to the #CFBPlayoff final with a 63-28 win over No. 4 Oklahoma.

It’s hard to argue that these LSU wins weren’t impressive, but there is definitely some recency bias. While you can argue the fact that Clemson really hasn’t played anyone, it’s hard to bet against a team that beat Alabama in almost the exact same scenario last year. Both of these teams have seemed to blow opponents out with ease this season. I think if you take the names of these teams out of the equation and just look at the numbers, most people are going to take the points every time.
At the end of the day, there can only be one National Campion, unless your UCF, and this is going to be a great game. I have gone back and forth on this game for the last to weeks. Like I said earlier, I do have a future ticket on LSU, but I don’t think they cover the spread. I am going to be taking Clemson +6.5 in this one in hopes that they cover and don’t win. Either way, this is going to be an exciting game.
