College Basketball Picks 1/18/20
DePaul vs Butler
Both of these teams started the year off strong, but as of late they have gone in different directions. After starting the season 12-1 DePaul has lost 4 straight conference games. Butler also comes into this game off of a loss to Seton Hall. Butler has done a great job cover the spread on the road, currently covering at 75%. Depaul, on the other hand, has covered the spread 50% of the time at home. Butler has also been a great free-throw shooting team, shooting at 71.2%. Depaul is shooting at 63.6% from free-throw. I am taking Butler -3.5 in this game.
Best Bet: Butler -3.5
NC State vs Clemson
NC State comes into this game as the 34th ranked team in this week’s power rankings. Clemson comes into this game as the 107th ranked team. One of the biggest parts of NC State’s games is their ability not to turn the ball over. So far this season they have only turned the ball over 15.9% of the time, while Clemson has turned it over 18.6% of the time. NC State has done a great job of covering the spread at home. Currently, they are covering at 54.5%. Clemson has only covered the spread on the road 33.3% of the time. That is why I will be taking NC State -7.5 in this game.
Best Bet: NC State -7.5
Colgate vs Boston University
Both of these teams have started off patriot league play well, both with records of 4-1. While it is still early in the season Colgate looks to build upon there crazy run last year. A big part of there game has come from the free-throw line. They have been shooting at 79.6% from behind the free-throw line, while Boston University has only been shooting at 63.6%. This is going to be an exciting game and I am taking Colgate -6 in this one.
Best Bet: Colgate -6
George Mason vs Richmond
George Mason has struggled as of late only winning 1 of there last 5 games. Richmond has been playing very well as of late winning 3 of there last 4 games. Richmond comes into this game as one of the hottest teams in the Atlantic 10. A big part of there game has been there three-point shooting. Currently, they are shooting at 37.3% while George Mason is only shooting at 32.0%. I will be taking Richmond -2 in this one.
Best Bet: Richmond -2
Lafayette is probably my favorite game of the entire day. Lafayette has covered an outstanding 85.7% of there games on the road this season, while Navy has only covered 57.1% of there games at home. After a rough start to conference play for Lafayette, they have assembled 3 straight wins. The patriot league might not produce the big-name teams, but they play quality basketball. My best bet for this game is Lafayette +1.5.
